Patio Music - Just For Play

Join us for Sunday Patio Music with Just For Play!

Just For Play consists of Carol Taylor (lead vocals, flute) and John Derk ( lead vocals, guitar, piano).

Carol Taylor of West Chester, PA began singing as a typical little girl in her room with a hairbrush “microphone” in her hand to her 45 rpm records on her stereo. Although her musical “training” was actually from 9 years of playing flute and piccolo, singing was always her real passion. Although she didn’t perform vocally in front of a large audience until her 8th grade talent show, in the tenth grade she got her first paid singing “gig” as the soloist at her friend’s older sister’s wedding. It wasn’t until high school that Carol got a tiny taste of being the lead singer in a “garage” band,…. that never played outside the garage! During High School Carol also toured Europe with “American Music Abroad” playing patriot American music on flute and piccolo.

John has been part of the Pennsylvania music scene for many years. Growing up in the Susquehanna Valley, he had the opportunity to play in many of the areas local bands. He has played keyboards for local favorites, Jaysenn Grand, Jesse, Full Circle, Topaz, Bryce Canyon, Haphazard, the McKabes and the Jesse Wade Gang. John has shared the stage with national acts such as Lee Greenwood, Tracy Byrd, Jerry Reed, Ricochet, Jason Michael Carroll, and Montgomery Gentry. He has also played keyboards for Marie Levin, a national touring Reba McEntire impersonator, and has had the privilege to play keyboards with Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert.

After working with Carol in Haphazard, John and Carol decided they wanted to form the acoustic duo “For Play”. In addition to keyboards, John also plays guitar, mandolin, flute, harmonica, bass, and drums. John plays all the instruments that Just For Play uses for their backing tracks.

Shotgunn - Classic Rock & Roll

Shotgunn - Classic Rock & Roll

Join us as we round out our 2nd Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration with the 11 piece band that plays classic rock & roll, Shotgunn!

Only 200 tickets will be sold to allow ample room for the dance floor we know Shotgunn fans love! Online ticket sales open now. Paper tickets will only be printed in January 2019 if not sold out by that point. Shotgunn sells out of every venue they play at that has ticket sales so purchase your tickets early to guarantee entrance!

Shotgunn was formed in 1973 by five young musicians fresh out of high school. They played at school dances, and clubs in the area. There were some personnel changes over the next couple of years, but by early 1976 the band split up due to musical differences. Later that year two of the original members recruited other musicians to form Shotgunn II. This edition played clubs in Dauphin, and Schuylkill counties. After about a year they also disbanded.

Fast forward to 2003. Members from both editions of the band got together to do a thirty year reunion show to benefit The American Cancer Society. It was supposed to be a one time thing, but it was so successful, and the members had so much fun they decided to do a show every year. Every year they would work with a different charity, or organization. Over the years some members left, and were replaced by others. The band started playing more, and evolved into the eleven piece outfit it is today. With the edition of a female vocalist, a four piece horn section, keyboards, and a percussionist they are able to do a wide variety of music. Anything from Chicago, and Blood Sweat and Tears to Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Jefferson Airplane. There’s something for everyone.

LIVE Music - Karen Nogle & Mark Tomeo

Having performed together for years, singer Karen Nogle & guitarist/singer Mark Tomeo will entertain us with LIVE music during our St. Patrick's Day Happy Hour festivities!  This duo make a tight mix that steps outside of the regular male/female duo. Offering melodic little stories, their music is poppy, infectious and takes significant influence from the worlds of pop, jazz and country. They’ve also built the reputation of giving a great live show – hauntingly rich performances in which the only instruments are their voices and Mark’s guitar. Through descriptive storytelling and flawless harmonies, their lyrics seem lived rather than merely mechanically recited. You hear just the sound of two voices, a man and a woman, singing harmonies that sound as old as the sky and as fresh as the breeze. It’s hard to argue with a good duet.

Want to hear a favorite song? Send an email to sunburysocialclubmembership@gmail.com and we will share with Karen & Mark so they can be sure to add some of your favorites to their line-up!

Stay Tuned for Happy Hour Food & Drink Specials that will be announced closer to the date!
